Investors will be faced with a number of dilemmas in the coming year - with traditional safe havens set to bare the brunt of any squeeze, says one expert.
He said that the situation facing investors now was quite unusual as products like bonds were not usually badly affected by adverse market conditions.

Hollands also said that in more cautious times people also tended towards funds that paid an income as "it is money in the pocket today".

In December 2007, Clerical Medical predicted a "more settled" commodities market in 2008.
